This will be via ‘work shopped’ activity in-country and defined ongoing ‘remote’ support.
The International community Coach Education Standard (ICES) is an innovative project connecting and supporting community sport (and sport-for-development) agencies in different international environments. The aim of the project is to develop, quality assure and help recognise effective community level coach education and development programmes. This support, development and quality assurance is based on a framework defining:
- Community sport participants’ needs and entitlements
- Community sports coaches’ role, responsibilities and required capabilities
- Methodology and approaches that have been successful in developing community sport coaches
- A process to quality assure and further develop community coach development systems
Different national sport councils, non-government agencies and sport federations from a number of countries have supported the development of this framework. Thus far ICES projects have been initiated in Southern Africa, the Caribbean and the South Asian Subcontinent. The ICES project is being developed and led by UK Sport’s International Development team.

"International Inspiration will use the power of sport to transform the lives of millions of children and young people in schools and communities in countries across the globe. It will seek not only to help deliver the ambitions promised in Singapore but also to lay the foundations for a long term international legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It’s a programme of which I am immensely proud..."
