In July 2004 invited to be the International Lead Trainer for a Sports Leadership Camp being organised by the Council of Europe. On behalf of the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England, Rex’s role was to act as lead trainer, and mentor a team of UK teachers delivering the training weeks. The pilot project of ‘Ballons Rouges’, for internally displaced young people of the Caucasian region, was held in Guba, Azerbaijan and involved Internally Displaced Persons from both Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Based upon the resounding success of the pilot camp the YST and Rex were commissioned to deliver further camps and Rex subsequently led camps in Georgia in 2005, and again in Azerbaijan in 2006.
